HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (WSAV) — Hilton Head Island’s 100th loggerhead turtle nest was discovered Wednesday morning by the HHI Sea Turtle Patrol at Palmetto Dunes. Two more nests were found since then.
This is a big step up from this time last year when 79 nests had been discovered. A total of 204 nests were found in 2024.
Amber Kuehn of the Sea Turtle Patrol told WSAV News 3 they could see as many as 400 nests this year.
